Turim’s Insights

Despite the fact that the United States is going through a complex economic cycle, with two consecutive drops in GDP, our strategist Nelson Abrahao argues that the US is not yet in an economic recession.

“When analyzing data such as the labor market, real income, consumption, employment level and industrial production, we have many positive surprises. The number of job openings was almost double than expected, and all these indices continue to point upwards. According to broader criteria, the United States is still not experiencing an economic recession”, explains Abrahão.

Central bank interest rate hikes were another point of attention in the conversation. According to the executive, the monetary policy of the Central Banks is experiencing an acceleration of this rate of increase – in particular, of increases above 50 basis points –, reaching historic records.

The webinar also featured the participation of our founding partner Gustavo Marini; Leonardo Martins Moraes, co-CEO; Fernando Verboonen, CIO; and Rodrigo Louro, CEO of Turim UK.
